Pete Irving v David Rosmon
Pete Irving earned a unanimous decision over David Rosmon to take the
10th Legion Championship European Welterweight Title. Irving bossed the
early stand up, scoring with sharp kicks. Each exchange of punches ended
with a solid right hand counter from Pete.
The second continued in a similar fashion. Although behind, Rosmon never
looked to be in big trouble. The Dane occasionally looked like he was
losing interest, but hung in there- surviving a vicious barrage of
punches at the midpoint.
Irving was almost made to pay for his failure to put Rosmon away. With
plenty of time left in the third, the fight went to the ground- bang in
front of Danish corner. They screamed encouragement and Irving grimaced
as David applied an evil looking Kimura. Irving toughed it out and
deservedly got the nod from the judges.
Marcus Da Silva v Lanus Jones
A real style v style throwback fight. Marcus Da Silva took the European
Light Heavyweight Title at the inaugural 10th Legion with a devastating
jiu jitsu display and walked out proudly sporting his brown belt. Lanus
Jones entered the cage determined to keep it standing.
Da Silva set about dragging the lion into the shark tank. Each clinch
saw him wrap his legs around Jones and try to fall backwards. Twice,
Jones was warned for holding the fence. The second time, referee Goddard
laid down the law. A point deduction and a clear warning: Cheat again
and you’re out of here. This was it. The pair came together again. The
punches flew. Jones’ footwork got him off the fence. A huge left hand
connected and Da Silva crashed to the floor.

Gary Savage v Phil Ounsley
Gary Savage looked sharp early on- finding the target with crisp leg
kicks. Once the fighters clinched up against the fence, the tide turned.
Ounsley patiently manoeuvred into position to execute a double leg take
down. Phil soon took Savage’s back and forced a tap by way of rear naked
choke.
Semi Pro Fights.
Jake Tear defeated Laurence Neal on the cards to take the
Semi – Pro Welterweight European Title.
Luke Dalton of Manvers Fight Factory made an impressive debut
against Tristan Morgan. Morgan sought to nullify the reach
advantage by pushing his opponent against the fence. Dalton bided his
time and finally found the right range. Two head kicks followed up with
a few hard, clean punches forced the ref to dive in.
Gavin Lofts impressed with a slick first round finish. After
dropping Darren Atkinson with a punch, he went straight for the
armbar to get the sub.
Adam Thompson unleashed the right hand from Hell to KO Phil
Gowans.
Heavyweights Chris McWatt and Dieter Huggins was another
striker v grappler match up. On the feet, McWatt was the guv’nor,
narrowly missing with some huge bombs. Meanwhile, Huggins strolled
around with his chin high in the air, looking more like a bloke quoting
for an artexing job than a boxer. Both men were obviously having a great
time: McWatt getting flash and Huggins gurning back at him. The balance
of power shifted in the clinch. Huggins slapped on a guillotine and
pulled McWatt down into his guard. Game over. Not for the purist, but a
fun fight that entertained the crowd.
Pete Wright defeated Simon Liste by unanimous decision.
